Opening Predictions...

The only Republican ticket that stands a chance is Thompson-Gingrich. These men are far enough away from the party to revitalize the base, while Thompson's attitude may appeal to voters. And then Gingrich's first name is newt. I'm betting they'll pick Giuliani-Thompson, only to get trounced by voters who are sick of being forced into fear by our leaders.

Silver bullet for the D's: Obama-Richardson. Provided they can capture the interest of their own party in the primary, they would have an unstoppable draw on independents and minorities that would produce the first electoral mandate since 1988. Cosmopolitan, midwestern (black) Senator with NRA-endorsed, southwestern (hispanic) governor takes urban and rural areas, drawing all minorities out in droves while maintaining (expanding?) the democratic base.

Unfortunately, if Obama's popularity with the youth doesn't save the day, middle-aged dems with a proven penchant for self-destruction will flock to Ms. Clinton, resulting in yet another gag-me-with-a-spoon race to see who's least repulsive.

a simple verse

death is all around us
it’s a race to stay away

a falling leaf
a lingering goodbye
a hug that hurts
a slice of humble pie

but please now
we can both elude death
just join me
time’ll take care of the rest
